Express Scripts - North Huntingdon Township, Pennsylvania

SNS Architects & Engineers, PC was appointed to redesign a complete "big box" Pharmacy Call Center, including an open workspace area, conference rooms, private huddle spaces, special needs rooms, an HR administration suite, a café & cafeteria, a fitness center, and public corridors & toilets.

Our office faced the difficulty of clearly distinguishing between licensed and unlicensed spaces, as the work conducted by the Pharmacists on staff would need to be completed within the Pharmacy licensed area. Since the facility is used by both licensed and unlicensed individuals, the public function needs to be independent of licensed space and not interfere with the public path of travel across the facility.

A "curvilinear" boulevard became the facility's main spine, distinctly separating licensed and unlicensed spaces, with all public functions taking place in this public corridor.

The central reception space of the complex became the prominent entry point or "piazza" intersecting the boulevard.

The client has expressed his satisfaction with the physical environment, which, due to its complexity, improves the facility's operations.
