Merck-Medco Child Care Center

On its 200+ acre corporate headquarters location in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, Merck-Medco Managed Care, LLC, arranged to construct a childcare center for the children of its employees.

The 22,000 SF facility was designed by SNS Architects and Engineers, PC, in collaboration with Merck-Medco and the child care program operator for 200 children ranging in age from 6 months to 5 years.

The facility was designed around a central courtyard playground that allows children to be visible from the inside loop corridor, the classrooms, the library, and the director's office for safety. A multi-purpose room with translucent panels enables playroom activities during intimate weather conditions as well as adult seminar sessions. The administrative wing has reception, files and records, directors, office and conference room, nurse and visitor's office, library, laundry, and trash rooms, while the teacher's lounge with a "teaching" kitchen may be utilized for classroom baking.

SNS Architects and Engineers, PC's combined disciplines, which included Architecture, Civil/Structural Engineering, and Interior Design, aided in the facility's timely completion.
